Since it was founded in 1979, The Hong Kong Ballet has become one of the leading classical ballet companies in Asia and internationally-recognised as a thriving institution for the performing arts.
The Company has cultivated an award-winning, diverse and creative repertoire that includes full-length ballets, classical and neo-classical works alongside contemporary performances. It has sought to raise the profile of Hong Kong’s cultural scene on an international stage with global tours of North and South America, Europe and Asia, and by commissioning ballets that have a close connection to Hong Kong and China.
In 2015, the Yvonne L. K. Lui Foundation supported the 30th anniversary of The Hong Kong Ballet’s annual fundraising gala. As the Company looks ahead to another 30 years with a refreshed vision and mission – to strengthen its connectivity with everyone in the community, making ballet accessible to all – the annual fundraiser plays a crucial role in supporting the Company’s community education and outreach programmes, helping to introduce the world of performing arts to an even wider audience.
